SolMates SunReaders offer bifocal lenses in either a progressive (no-line) style or a lined style. Progressive lenses offer the benefit of a mid-range visual field and a smooth transition from distance to close-up vision. Lined bifocals have two distinct visual fields with an "image or line jump" between. Lenses with a line have some limitations and while they may take less time to get accustomed to; lined bifocals do not offer the mid-range option.

Our lenses are hand custom-tinted to your preference, with solid or gradient tints. Available tints are brown, perfect for cloud delineation and hazy conditions, gray, which some pilots report truer color viewing, and green, a popular color for all-around use. Our lenses comply with FAA regulations for light transmission. Our solid tint lenses block 80%, and gradient tinted lenses block 75% of visible light. The FAA suggests that for visual acuity in and out of the cockpit, that sunglass lenses not block more than 85% of transmitted light.

In addition, we coat our lenses to provide 100% protection from UVA, UVB and, UVC radiation.

We are happy to do specialty tints, as we do for customers who fight fires from air tankers.

We understand that you may have questions regarding our bifocal sunglasses for aviators. We welcome your calls and questions.
