Here is what Lisa M. has to say about Solmates

Hello! Here is a picture of me on Kauai in my Kauais!
I love them, I don't know how I lived without these sunglasses! They really came in handy on my trip; when I took a picture with my digital camera I could see the picture that I was getting. When I got a phone call I can actually see who is calling me, and read my text messages! There are other applications, of course, like looking for shells and reading labels, and just seeing anything up close without having my reading glasses stuck in my shirt all the time. I love my Solmates...
xo, Lisa
Thanks for the feedback Lisa!!!
Isn't she pretty?

Lined or No Line Progressive Lenses

Liz and I get many questions from customers regarding which lens type would be best for them, a lined bifocal or a no-line progressive lens. As you can read in our tab titled, Lined or No-Line, they both have their advantages. However, we recognize that sometimes you just have to try on both pairs to compare and see which one you like better.

So, many times we will send a customer both pairs, and let them see which one works best for them. Most of the time, customers prefer the no line progressive lens but not always.

If you are torn about what will work for you, just let us know. We are happy to send you two for the price of one. All we ask is that you send us back the one you didn't choose.

Our first goal, always, is to help you get the very best fit. Period.

This Could Be a Letter From YOU!

Today we received the happiest of emails from one of our customers who is heading out for a trip on Thursday:

Hi Cathy!
Just wanted to let you know that the Rehoboth (sp?) sunglasses arrived today and they are just perfect!
I love the style and the vision correction is right on; it's so wonderful to have progressive lenses again in a sunglass. You have just made my trip to Mexico (on Thursday) perfect.
Thank you again,
Kathy D.

The Lengths We Go To

Of the two of us, Cathy is the driving force behind our customer service. Trust me, she is the NICE one. And today, I caught her being accommodating again. She does not believe in "Let the buyer beware." (I have "Caveat Emptor" tattooed on my left shoulder.)

Here is the email that she sent a recent customer:

"Hi. I just wanted to let you know that your sunglasses are shipping today. You should receive them by Friday or Saturday. Per our discussion, I sent both a lined and no line lens/frames for you to test. You can send back the pair you don't want after you decide which works best for you. Also, you will notice that we use a slightly different tinting process on lined versus no line lenses so you will want to take that into consideration as well."

Anyway, this is just to say, we know it isn't easy sometimes making a decision and you have to see and try the glasses. We do try to work give our customers the opportunity to test drive the glasses. Let us work with you!!

I couldn't have said it better myself

Today, Cathy and I received this email from Greg, a pilot, among other things in Naples Florida who needs bifocal sunglasses to see his instruments and the horizon out the window.

This is what he said, "Thank you so much they are perfect. As a pilot these will be of tremendous help for me in the cockpit. I'm not sure as yet if my preference is the progressive or non. Right now I like the non, since I'm not visible in the plane anyway. The progressive would be better for the beach. Once I make my final decision, I will quickly send the other back to you. Thanks again, Greg"

Thanks Greg...we look forward to hearing how your SolMates SunReaders are working for you!

Lost in the Forest

Liz left this book on my table about a year ago. I just picked it up this week-end and breezed through it. This automatically means it is good because I do not breeze through books.
If you have ever been divorced, and then remarried, and then your second husband died and you started to fall in love with your first husband again even though he cheated on you before, plus your fifteen year old daughter is sleeping with your best friend's husband, then you will be able to relate to this book. If none of those things have every happened to you, you will still enjoy it!
It is yours for the asking when you order a pair of SolMates. Just mention it in the special comments section and we will throw it in! Of pick any other book we have reviewed or you see in the widget.

Neutrogena Summer Glow

As promised, I have been using my Neutrogena Summer Glow regularly, so I could let you know if I liked it or not. I am a natural tanner, but have a pretty sun-damaged dermis as a result of years of lifeguarding wearing baby oil in the pre-There's-a-Hole-in-the-Ozone awareness days. Not to give you too much information, but I am developing sun damage spots on my calves. They kind of look like bloated freckles. Actually they sort of add to the whole "road map" effect on my legs, with the spots being cities or towns and the veins being the little roads. Kind of interesting. But not beautiful.

What I liked about the Summer Glow was that it really motivated me to use moisturizer because I felt like I was getting a secondary benefit (a tan) in addition to well lubed skin. I did get a tiny bit tanner. I wouldn't say I was "glowing" per se, but I didn't look chalky either. The downside is that the bloated freckles got darker also.

Would I buy this again? Probably, because it also has "Helioplex" (and I need that to land my helicopter), and full suncreen. And the color is pretty good. So, I would say it was a win all around. Anything that helps me face the season of abbreviated clothing is a good thing!

Beware: It is Bathing Suit Season

When I was young, each spring my mother would take me to pick out my new bathing suit for the season. I remember hating it which I find amusing since back then I had a great shape. A string bikini looked fine on me as I didn't have any lumps spilling over any part of the fabric. Almost 50 years later, the process becomes progressively more daunting each year. Stuff is hanging out all over the place no matter how much exercise I do.
Enter Athleta.com. First of all, the process of selecting a suit is much easier over the internet because there aren't any dressing rooms. Instead you can wait for the package to arrive, and then go into your own bathroom, after sundown, with the dimmers on, and get over the shock.
Thankfully, Athleta has some skirted options that are very sassy and cute, like the one above. It reminds me of something you might see on a Survivor contestant...sort of safari like. Anyway, I ordered this and another style that really are little shorts made out of high control bathing suit material. Like Solmates, Athleta designers are doing their part in making fashion forward products for the baby boomer market. Thank you!!!!
